I am pleased to inform you that last year, together with our partners from Malaysia, we established the Russian-Asian Association of Lawyers (hereinafter referred to as the Association) with its headquarters in Malaysia.
The task of RALA is to integrate professionals in the legal field from both Asia and former SU countries/Russia. We will organize practical conferences in Russia and Asia and invite Asian and Russian professionals to talk about and discuss their professional experience in practice; themes we are considering are sanctions, oil, gas and energy, banking law, joint venture, Russian investment in Asia in many others.
One of the key features of our association is the active role we will have in the creation of projects between member’ law firms from former SU countries and Asian law firms.
Another important aspect will be the opportunities for junior lawyers/paralegals to take part in internship programs that should help build a professional and cultural bond between Russian and Asian lawyers. Through mutual effort between Russian/Asian attorneys and influential corporations we wish to encourage the opening of new educational programs within Russian/Asian universities, which would focus on Asian and Russian law. The Association will also work within student groups in Russian and Asian universities to foster a bond in the legal profession between Russian and Asian students.
As members of the association, we have leaders in the corporate field from companies such as: Rosneft, Synergy, UralVagonZavod, Sberbank, Russian Railways, Alrosa, RosAtom, Aeroflot, Sistema, Otkritie and other influential Russian corporations. We have support from top legal institutions such as: Moscow GU, Far Eastern Federal University, The Kutafin Moscow State Law University, Peoples’ Friendship University.
We also have support from Asian and Russian legal societies and Bars, such as: the Federal Chamber of Lawyers (Advocates) of Russia, the Prosecutor General’s Office of Russia and Russian Academy of Sciences, the Law Society of Hong Kong, The Law Society of Singapore and Malaysian Bar.
One of our key projects at the moment is formation of the Chinese-Russian legal database. The database will keep Chinese-Russian legal documents (agreements, contracts, Memorandums so on) in both Russian and Mandarin Chinese. All our RALA members would have free access to the database.
We also aim to publish a book concerning issues of international corruption in both English and Chinese.
If you or one of your senior partners is interested in participating in our association please feel free to contact us.
